1. Tagert Hut perched in Colorado’s Elk Mountains. A luxurious basecamp for the incredible multitude of ski mountaineering descents nearby.
2. Mint Hut, accessed from Hatcher Pass, this hut is the first step of the Bomber Traverse in the Talkeetna Mountains in Alaska. The cozy structure, maintained by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska, was built in 1971 and is painted red to stand out from the nearby glaciers.
3. Bomber Hut, is a tin hut is the second step of the Bomber Traverse in the Talkeetna Mountains, and is also maintained by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska. Accessed via glacier and mountain pass, this little structure provides a respite from the wild, windswept tundra it sits upon.
4. Snowbird Hut was built and maintained by volunteers of the American Alpine Club, the Snowbird Hut is often the final stop upon the Bomber Traverse of the Talkeetna Mountains. If you can find it and are an AAC member, the hut is free.
