RIBA International Prize crowns Children Village by Aleph Zero + Rosenbaum world’s best new building

The wait is over, and the result is in: the RIBA International Prize for the world’s best new building goes to a boarding school complex for disadvantaged children in northern Brazil. The project called "Children Village" was designed by young Brazilian architects Aleph Zero, in collaboration with Rosenbaum, and emerged successfully from a shortlist of four outstanding buildings.

This is the second edition of the RIBA International Prize which recognizes design excellence and architectural ambition with a special focus on meaningful social impact. This edition's grand jury comprised Kazuyo Sejima (SANAA), Joshua Bolchover (Rural Urban Framework), Gloria Cabral (Gabinete de Arquitectura), Peter Clegg (Feilden Clegg Bradley Studio), and was chaired by DS+R founding partner, Elizabeth Diller.
