My best friend and I did this hike in the summer and we started our hike later in the day because of the heat, so when we were heading back down the sun was slowing starting to set. We encountered a massive grizzly bear 7 feet in front of us when we were almost at the bottom. It looked directly at us and we had no bear spray (not the most smart on our part). We headed back up the hill and waited it out for 45 minutes until we heard other hikers behind us. We walked back down in a pack and made loud noises in case we encountered the grizzly again. Luckily, we make it back down okay! We ended driving past a grizzly that was on the side of the road on the way home as well. It was such a crazy experience/day.
