Hump day holiday - part 1


It's Wednesday, hump day, the working week half done but still the promise of the weekend is just out of reach. If we can't escape our everyday humdrum then perhaps we can take a virtual getaway to this simple but oh so stylish holiday home in the sleepy waterside hamlet of Patonga, north of Sydney. Nothing to do but sit back and relax, perhaps a dip in the river followed by a drink on the verandah. It's about wet swimmers and tyre swings, old boats and the hum of summer insects, good books and good friends. Nothing precious except the memories and the objects d'art strewn about. Going beyond borders, oceans, and thinking of the continents as a continuous entity comes from this vision. Fifty years later, we face the existential threat of ecological disaster, and maybe revisiting the whole earth project seems like a way of recapturing that drive. This proposal looks at a network of towers that span across the oceans connecting the planet in a matrix that provides energy cleans the oceans and gives new chances for life to thrive.
