“A Roof of Their Own” voted as People's Choice winner in 2017 AIA I Look Up Film Challenge


The public cast over 268,000 votes for the People’s Choice Award contest in the AIA's 2017 I Look Up Film Challenge, whose theme was “Blueprint for Better”. Paul-Vincent Alexander's “A Roof of Their Own” won with 122,527 votes. Brad Deal's “Pisces” was the first runner-up, while Julian Pham's “A Little Alcove: San Francisco Navigation Center” placed as the second runner-up.

“A Roof of Their Own” features architect Jose Luis Henriquez and structural engineer Raul Hinojosa, who teamed up to build low-cost and sustainable housing to impoverished communities susceptible to poor economic standards, inclement weather, and environmental patterns. 

Along with a cash prize, Alexander will have his film exclusively screened during the Architecture & Design Film Festival on November 1. You can also watch it in full right below.
