New Monograph highlights Reiser + Umemoto's visionary oeuvre


Reiser + Umemoto have followed up their previous monograph, Atlas of Novel Tectonics, with a new tome: Projects and Their Consequences. 

The monograph, published by Princeton Architectural Press, includes interviews and essays as well as more than 400 original drawings collages, and paintings.

According to the Princeton Architectural Press website, Projects and Their Consequences "presents fifteen key projects from leading architectural thinkers Reiser + Umemoto...[tracing] thirty years of innovative, multidisciplinary investigations of form, structure, technique, and planning...Large-format and beautifully designed, it is a necessary volume for architects and those interested in the intersection of architecture, art, and culture."

Going beyond borders, oceans, and thinking of the continents as a continuous entity comes from this vision. Fifty years later, we face the existential threat of ecological disaster, and maybe revisiting the whole earth project seems like a way of recapturing that drive. This proposal looks at a network of towers that span across the oceans connecting the planet in a matrix that provides energy cleans the oceans and gives new chances for life to thrive.
