The Estuary Cabin built by Rupert McKelvie of Out of the Valley / @outofthevalley_ltd

High tide on the estuary, a peaceful time of day as boats drift pass on their way out to sea. The old port further upstream was known as being one of the most sheltered on the south coast, and once thrived as a result acting as a hub for shipbuilding and fishing.

The kitchen sits in the gable end of the cabin. Eeking out every bit of usable space.

Another project by Rupert — a thoughtfully appointed, timber-frame, off-grid home he built for himself — is featured in our new book. Visit cabinporn.com/inside to pre-order your copies.
